2023 is almost over, and it’s time to look at what we’ve done these past twelve months and think about our goals for the next year.
Many exciting events have taken place in 2023. In our 2nd annual meeting in Athens in May, we got together to share preliminary outcomes from our work packages and strengthen the ties between our project partners. To ensure efficient communication and keep working together in the right direction, we’ve also organised monthly online seminars that have enabled sharing a joint vision within the consortium.
This year we also published the first scientific papers of the project. A special mention goes to the discovery of Darwinibacteriales, a whole new taxonomic order of bacteria that could improve biogas production! Moreover, to disseminate our knowledge, we launched our very own podcast, Fuelled by Microbes, aiming to unveil the role of biogas in the green energy transition. Finally, to support taking our science from the lab to the real world, we prepared an easy-to-follow guide for building a miniature biodigester – an excellent activity for students to take on at chemistry class!
As this year draws to a close, we want to thank all our partners and stakeholders in the renewable energy sector, all working together towards a common goal: making biogas the energy of the future.
We wholeheartedly wish you a very happy holiday season and all the best for the upcoming year.
