Finrenes is a Finish SME focused on the biogas sector, specifically transforming biowaste products into improved raw materials for anaerobic digestors. They are technology providers, mainly process design packages for costumers; they also work in existing installations (providing biocraker to existing biogas plants and heat/power plants); and they are also vendors: providing feedstock characterisation services for costumers.
Bradenburg University of Technology Cottbus–Senftenberg
Situated in the heart of the Lausitz region, BTU combines outstanding international research with future-oriented teaching. It makes an important contribution to society, our culture and the economy through knowledge and technology transfer and with further education. As a technical university, BTU offers a teaching concept found nowhere else in Germany: our courses of study lead to either a university or a university of applied science degree, or to a so-called dual education degree, which is obtained through a combination of academic schooling and vocational training. BTU offers around 80 applied or research-oriented study programmes for Bachelor or Master degree (repeatedly recognised in e.g. CHE Ranking), thereof twelve study programmes with an international focus. Approximately 7,280 students are enrolled at the BTU of which around 2,190 come from abroad. China, India, Poland and Nigeria represent the biggest country groups of the more than 110 different nations. The research at BTU is focussed in four thematic priorities: (i) Smart Regions and Heritage, (ii) Energy Efficiency and Sustainability, (iii) Biotechnology, Environment and Health, and (iv) Cognitive and Dependable Cyber Physical Systems. In these four research fields BTU acquires an external funding of 50 Mio. € (in 2020), with 185 Professors and 694 Academic and Research Staff.
DARWIN is an SME founded in 2016. Darwin`s main focus is microbial bioprospecting, or the search of new microorganisms and/or microbial metabolites that can be used for a range of industrial applications (i.e. probiotics, strains for bioremediation, starter cultures, etc.).
